Artist Statement

Artist Statement I am Pei Yeuk Chuen Justin. I am a curious person who constantly engages in rapid thinking about my surroundings, regardless of people’s reactions, emotions, the existing environment, social phenomena and so on. Therefore, I aspire for my perspective to not only influence the audience's perception but also unveil the missing aspects of everyday life through my artwork. To achieve this effect, I emphasize establishing a strong connection between my works and the audience. Tending to explore and experiment with various media, including multi-media and mixed-media, my work can guide people beyond passive observation as ’viewers’, enabling them to personally experience as participants in the interactions between the artworks.

 

Moreover, my unique learning experience about Environmental and interior design during my associate degree greatly influenced the style of my artwork. It requires rational thinking and precise calculation of the practicality of architectures. However, the lack of expression of personal feelings diminishes my motivation for creation. Fortunately, visual art allows me to showcase my perspective on aesthetics by discovering the balance of rationality and emotionality.
